{Bowl} Healthy Competition

Kristen laughed as she watched Rob give Mackenzie a high-five after she knocked the last of her pins down.

“You’re up, Stewart,” he said, leering at her.

She rolled her eyes, not understanding why he insisted on acting like he had an athletic bone in his body…or a chance in hell at beating her.

Mackenzie watched with interest at their exchange and Kristen smiled. While they had both developed a great relationship with their on-screen daughter, Kristen knew Rob was the little girl’s favorite. Kristen often teased Rob that it was because they were the same mental age.

So she wasn’t the least bit surprised to turn around and see Mackenzie giving Rob a sympathetic shoulder pat when Kristen knocked down all of her pins.

“I’m sorry babe,” she said, joining them on the bench and kissing his cheek.

{Cash} Swear Jar

“Fuck!” Kristen exclaimed when she flubbed up her lines for the millionth time that day.

She felt several sets of amused eyes on her and sighed when she looked over at Mackenzie, who was grinning.

As Bill called for them to take five, she reached into her pocket and let out a frustrated groan when she discovered that it was empty. “Of course,” she muttered to herself.

“Need a loan, love?” Rob asked cheekily.

She glared at him. “You are a jerk,” she muttered.

He pulled her into his arms and hugged her. “Today’s almost over,” he assured her.

Sighing, she turned to Mackenzie. “IOU?”

{Patience} Some Day

Mackenzie was spending the evening with them in their rented home outside of Baton Rouge while her parents had a well-deserved night out on the town.

Kristen huddled in the recliner watching as Rob sat with Mackenzie and taught her some basic chords on the guitar.

Her heart thumped wildly at the proud grin that Rob sported when she finally got it right.

He ruffled the girl’s hair and stood up, letting her sit and practice.

Kristen gave him a sweet smile as he walked past her to the kitchen.

He smiled back, knowing what she was thinking.

Some Day.
